Something that makes me laugh: Former Ste haters who now ship Stug, who accuse Stendan shippers of only liking him as part of the ship.

Agreed, the Silas thing was too big of a deal to be handled that badly. If they were gonna take time from the whole Doug thing then make it worth our while.  Same thing goes for the whole Dodger family does not have a home og where should be go? If the would have scrapped that for next episode and focus on Silas and Doug (Maddie and her father can stay because I feel like it didn’t take up too much time). It was a messy and bland episode.

They really do need to sort out their structure, it’s just a bit of a wreck at the moment. It’s sad seeing something you love not living up to its full potential, especially when they’ve got the best actors and characters the show’s ever had. It’s such a shame, because I can only imagine how brilliant it could be if handled by the right people.

You’re SO right. Now I understand why PJ always seems to be so “meh” over this storyline; they’re wrecking his character! And poor Kieron is being used as a plot device again. Fan-fuckin’-tastic.
Those gorgeous, talented boys deserve so much better. We deserve so much better.

Spot on my friend. I mean I get it that the whole Silas thing carries some weight, but come on. This was a crucial moment fro Doug. He has been staying home, depressed for two weeks because everything he knew about himself seems like a lie. Come the fuck on. Where was the drama? And while I’m at it, how the hell can Ste suddenly say that he has fancied Doug for ages? Are you fucking kidding me? That has never ever been hinted upon at all. I’m just really disappointed right now.

Exactly. And even the Silas thing is being handled badly - I would have loved to have seen this affecting Mercedes, Lynsey, Riley and all those who were involved in it months ago. Instead they had Mercedes acting completely normally.

Maybe if the writers didn’t insult our intelligence re: Stug, then we could buy it more. It would have been so much better to just show that Ste began to have feelings for him, rather than having him spout his random lines about liking him for ‘ages’, when he’s only just begun to think of him romantically. It shows a real lack of care for the characters.

THIS, my God. This. I feel so sorry for Kieron and PJ… and I’m terribly embarrassed for HO. They’re a fucking joke, really.
They deserve so much better. They got it marginally right for Ste today, writing him as sassy, being pissed off with the teens. That ending scene could have been SO good. Very well acted, and yet they try to rewrite history. And PJ…poor PJ. They should have done more with his suicide storyline, because I would have found that compelling and tragic. Not trying to pretend that Doug has always had these feelings, when it’s clear that it just doesn’t work.

So Doug never really loved Bex, despite us being shown that she was the love of his life, the one person he’d do anything for.

Ste has liked Doug for ages. Ages=2 weeks in Hollyoaks.

Doug now has his own version of Callum, having fallen in love with a boy when he was eleven.

Cheryl doesn’t even…

^^ This

When the episode was over I looked at the screen and thought to myself “Is that all?”

I was expecting a hardcore storyline that would break my heart. This was not it.

All the scenes were just cliched, really. I was surprised by how little time was spent on them - Mercedes had more scenes putting on a dress and applying lipstick than Doug got. It’s almost like the writers knew that the whole thing is a complete rewrite of his character, so tried to have him in as few scenes as possible, so we wouldn’t notice.

Cheryl doesn’t even really know Brendan, as she didn’t seem to care at all about Ste being in love with someone who’s not her brother.

And Doug’s coming out story is basically a rehash of every coming out story in the history of the world.

Kieron and PJ deserve better than this.
